HARP

The harp is one of the oldest string instruments, but the modern pedal harp became especially important in orchestral and solo repertory. In the Classical and Romantic periods, composers used it for arpeggios, color, ceremonial brightness, and shimmering texture inside the orchestra. Its repertory also extends through chamber music, opera, folk traditions, and later film sound.
